Overview
Financial aid is available to eligible college students at the federal and state level, and additional financial aid is often available from individual colleges and universities. If your child is applying for financial aid, you'll need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Submit the FAFSA form as soon as possible after the January 1 opening date. Financial aid counselors recommend that students submit the FAFSA even if they don't think they qualify for aid, as there may be resources they are unaware of and because eligibility can change from one year to the next depending on financial circumstances. A FAFSA form is required for all federal, state and many school funds.
